Raisa Carmen Andeme Ela, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Associate
Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
Tandon School of Engineering
New York University

Dr. Raisa C. A. Ela is a Chemical Engineer and a Researcher. She is citizen of Equatorial Guinea who was born in MadridSpain, on the 9th of November of 1990. Dr. Andeme Ela completed a Postdoctoral Associate position in the Department of BioProducts and BioSystems Engineering at the University of Minnesota in January 2024. Prior to this, she was a Postdoctoral Associate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Center for Sustainable Polymers (CSP) in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota (2021-2023). She is also the founder and CEO of RAI STARALLA™️. Dr. Andeme Ela is a multi-disciplinary researcher passionate about consolidating innovative science and advanced characterization techniques to tackle energy, chemical, and environmental issues, by designing sustainable nano-materials and substances that enable the efficient transformation of waste plastics, rubber and non-edible plants into renewable fuels, chemicals and materials. Dr. Ela has received various awards for her research, and positive involvement with the community. Dr. Andeme Ela was selected as a 2022-2023 Mistletoe Research Fellow, in 2021 she was recognized as a Rising Star in Chemical Engineering by the distinguished Department of Chemical Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and in 2023, she received the Diversity, Equity, Action and Service (IDEAS) Award, from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, at the University of Minnesota.
